The 100dayproject
In January I started hearing about the 100 day project. It's a personal challenge for the creative community to do something creative, every day, for 100 days. This is a "design your own" type of challenge. You get to choose what Creative looks like to you. Over the 100 days you can work on multiple projects or a single project. You can switch it up daily. It can be as simple as a single photograph, a doodle, dancing in the kitchen, or something more elaborate.
This year's challenge started on February 23. I decided to give it a try, but using a medium other than glass since glass is hard to do outside of the studio and materials are expensive. I decided on watercolor for its low cost and portability. It's a medium that is completely unfamiliar to me, and in which I have no skills or training. What could be a better way to challenge my creativity! (and my artist ego? I'm bad, but that's OK... I think!?)
This past Saturday ended week two. So far, I've managed to put watercolor on paper every day. In the meantime, I'm still finding time to get into my glass studio.
While glass remains my passion I am enjoying the challenge and the intentional act of creating every day. I'm sure fitting this into my day may be difficult some days, but I'm going to try my best. If you're interested in joining the project, just jump it - it's never too late!

And there's still been time to get into the glass studio! This is a prototype for a larger project. |
